A Message From The Chief:

As Chief of Police for Chesterfield County, I am dedicated to supporting programs which build character, reinforce positive behavior, and build self esteem. The Chesterfield Police Department's Explorer Program is designed to provide our young people with these critical public service skills. The Explorer Program provides its members the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the law enforcement profession and participate in community service activities, improving the quality of life for all citizens in Chesterfield County.

Colonel Thierry G. Dupuis, Chief of Police
Chesterfield County Police Department
What is a Police Explorer?
The Chesterfield County Police Explorer Program is a Volunteer program for young people between the ages of 14 and completed the 8th grade through 21. The program allows the Explorers to learn all about the law enforcement profession. Police Officer "ride a longs", explorer competitions, non-enforcement related work, and community events are some of the details the explorers get to be involved with. These events are exciting, fun and rewarding for the explorers.

A selection process is used to determine who is acceptable for the program. The process involves an initial application, an oral interview, a background check, and satisfactory grades (Minimum 2.0 GPA). After being selected, an explorer is put on 6 months probation. Upon successful completion of the requirements and process you can become an official Chesterfield County Police Explorer.
